《sonnet 66》詩人列舉世間各種人類之惡行，無不令詩人深感厭倦，且忿忿不平。此首詩藉由詩人凝視著種種罪惡，具體地反映了詩人的精神狀態，厭世又無能為力。如此令人不耐的惡世，是因為懷有對美少年的愛，才使得詩人得以居留。

《sonnet 67》濁世裡，充斥著仿造美少年真善美的贗品，詩人眼中的世界，是虛偽以及偽善的總和，逐漸走向崩壞，少年是支撐世間唯一的美。
