《sonnet 94》詩人以花草樹木的蟲害，比喻人格的缺陷。詩人崇尚的美，是不對他人不義，也不會隨意被外在事物所誘惑。因此，真正的美來自行為的善，若行為有所偏差，其惡名將不脛而走。

《sonnet 95》少年的罪過，來自少年的美。流言的製造者們，是不會鬆懈的，在人海中挑選出少年，傷及少年的名譽。即使詩人認為，這些惡言，因少年的得天獨厚，都成為讚揚，但仍奉勸少年要愛惜羽毛，免去受傷害的風險。
