《sonnet 102》若將愛時常掛在嘴邊，就如同把愛視為商品般兜售。詩人的愛乍看脆弱，卻堅毅無比，詩人不常表達愛意，卻不代表內心沒有憧憬。因此，詩人視夜鶯在夏日停止歌唱，不在盛夏時節，萬物繁盛的時候多加頌揚，是愛情裡最崇高的美德。

《sonnet 103》少了讚頌，少年在鏡中的容顏，卻比詩人作品中的更加真實。詩人體認到，唯有真實的事物，才能表現真理，而真心可以經過時間的考驗。如詩人不再以詩歌來表現對少年的感情，是不張揚，卻樸實的愛。
