《sonnet 128》詩人以演奏樂器比喻對慾望的渴望。當對方演奏時，手指彈奏樂器，如親吻樂器般，身體輕輕擺動，使人陶醉；詩人如此渴望對方的巧手，渴望如彈奏樂器般輕吻彼此。對方的巧手奉獻給了樂器，詩人同等渴望對方如此對待他。

《sonnet 129》身而為人，皆有慾望。慾望使人帶有各種惡行，然而，承載著慾望，卻也正常不過。慾望深深勾引著人心，使人發狂。一切尚未發生時，我們期待著愉悅；發生之後，卻像夢一場。此事人盡皆知，卻無人能夠避免因渴求慾望而發生的墮落之行。
